I'm a homeschooling mom of 2 great kids. I've been married to my wonderful husband since 1997. I love to crochet, knit, and digi scrap. So, you never know what I might post about!

Wow, man, what happened to blogging? Well, we went to visit the parents the 21st thru the 24th of May, took Huey with us and came back with fleas. Ran to the vet and bought a tube of Advantage, put it on him and the fleas disappeared. My grandma died on the 30th, so back we went, sans dog and B (H stayed with my in-laws while I was with my family). Got back and realized we had also picked up ticks the weekend before. If I'd known that the first time, I would have gotten him Frontline Plus, which kills fleas and ticks. Of course, if I'd really been on the ball, I would have planned for the worst and gotten some Advantix before we even left, which would have kept the fleas, ticks and mosquitoes off of him while we were there, and we wouldn't have any bugs in our house now. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
I've pretty well planned our first unit in KONOS and chosen what I want to do for the rest of the year. We'll be starting in Sept., so I'm using the summer to plan our KONOS units through next July. I've looked through the online catalogs of our tiny small-town and Austin's libraries and can get most of the books we'll need through one of them. We'll finish handwriting the last week of this month, then we'll do a review of this year's handwriting level and start on the next book. We'll finish Math-U-See in July, then take August off and start the Foundations level when we start KONOS. I'm still looking for something good to use during Bible time. I might just have to wing it for a while longer. I'm trying to find a used copy of For Instruction in Righteousness, but I might just have to buy it new. It's something your kids don't outgrow 'till they move out. We went to co-op on Wed. for the first time in a month. At the beginning of May, the triplets were sick (their mom runs the co-op), then we went to the coast, then the weather was so nice they decided to do something else, then they weren't sure our new meeting place would be ready yet, so finally, this week we had co-op again and it was in the new place for the first time! It was really pretty cool. There is a playground outside with a really cool playscape, and the rooms are really cool, with scriptures painted on the walls (it used to be a Baptist church), and the air conditioning works!! Since it had been so long since we'd been in a group of other kids like that, I figured we'd have some problems, but she's matured in the last month, it seems, and didn't have a total break down, like she usually does. Our birthday is on the 29th and she'll be 5, so I'm looking for signs of whether or not she would be ready for actual school, if we had been a "normal" family. Yes, "our birthday." I'll be 30! Someday soon I'm going to ask my mother at what age she felt like an adult, like she had some authority in the world. I'm just now getting a taste of that, I think. I still think of myself as a kid, or at the most like a teenager, I guess. A 'young adult" in the way that teenagers are called "young adults." The number 30 doesn't faze me at all!! Lol
My mom emailed me yesterday and asked me what I want for my b-day. I've been complaining about our rotting garage door for a while now and when she asked me in May what I want, I told her that I want a scanner that works. In her email she asked if I want 1) a new garage door, 2) a scanner, or 3) something else. I told her that I want the garage door!! We've been trying (VERY unsuccessfully) to save for a garage door, so if she'll get me the door, we can get me a scanner in July! In fact, B said he'd work on the scanner we do have on Sat to see if he can get it to work with our computers. When we tried it the last time, it warmed up, started to scan, and then just didn't. It used to work when it belonged to my mil, so we know it "should" work. We didn't jar it on the trip to our house from hers, so it must just be an incompatibility with our computers. Hopefully he can get it to work, but if not, we can spare $50 in July for a new one.
B took his National/State EMT-B Certification test, and we're eagerly awaiting results. He's also supposed to find out this week whether he's been accepted to the Paramedic degree program. He's taking A&P (Anatomy & Physiology) and Weight Training this summer and working OT on Fridays. The only nights he's home for dinner are Fri, Sat and Sun and the only day he's off is Sat. The good thing is that while we were looking at the bills and the checkbook last night, we figured out that we should be able to pay all of our bills off in the next 2 paychecks! We could be caught up on ALL (!!!) of our bills; the late ones and the not late ones!! Then we wouldn't have any late ones by July!! That will be the first time that's happened in...wow, about 3 years, if not more. Seems like we've been in the hole our whole marriage. Hey, wow, speaking of which, Saturday isn't just Flag Day, it's the anniversary of our first date. We have been together for 8 years on Saturday. And Sunday is, of course, Father's Day. Since B has to work Sun, we'll give him his Father's Day present on Sat. (after we go to the store and buy some Crazy Glue; hot glue doesn't seem to get the job done on this project). So, Sat will be Flag Day, anniversary and Father's day for us! Lol H and I are making him a present. I know he reads my blog sometimes, so I won't say what it is 'till after he gets it.
