So, I'm being the substitute teacher for math. B is still the main math teacher, but we figure that math one day a week just isn't good enough. So, he'll teach the new lesson on Fridays, and then I'll reinforce it the rest of the week. Right now we're doing review of what we learned before our break and H really seems to remember all of it so far. We had lots of fun this morning. We played a little game where I sing, "If you're happy and you know it, grab a(n)...4, 9, 8, 2, etc." We use Math-U-See, so there are manipulatives that are little cubes for the number one, then 2 cubes stuck together for two, etc. So, whichever number I sing, she has to pick up the manipulative that represents that number. She just loved that. Last night we did a place value game where I pulled slips of paper with a digit written on each one and she had to build the three-digit number with the manipulatives. After math time today she asked if we could play that one again, but I had to tell her that we'd do that after her nap. So, we're just zooming through the review and she's just having a ball. Here she comes now. I think it's time to play with place values!
